So many early dating mishaps occur when we hit the bottle to calm our first-date jitters, don’t they? Next thing you know, you’re spooning your neighbor’s inflatable snowman or fishing your $400 smartphone out of the loo.
No more! This holiday season, whether you’re meeting a MeetMoi Intro for the first time, designated driving, or just don’t want to stumble into work with your head on fire, make or order one of these festive holiday mocktails. They’re filled with holiday cheer and guaranteed to keep your wits about you:
After Dinner Mint: Combine1 oz. International Delights Irish Cream (the stuff you put in your coffee) or Half and Half, 1 oz. Torani Peppermint Syrup, 2 oz. Hershey’s chocolate syrup, 2 oz. Sprite or 7 Up. Add ice and shake like a martini. (Ask bartender to garnish with mint leaves, candy cane, or whipped cream.)
Baby Bellini: Combine 2 oz. peach nectar, 1 oz. lemon juice, and chilled sparkling cider to taste. Serve in a champagne flute.
Brown Pelican: Despite the slightly fishy-sounding name, this simple mocktail has a decidedly fun fall flavor. 2 parts Apple Cider, 1 part Ginger Beer over ice. Garnish with a cinnamon stick, if available.
Chocolate Covered Cherry: 4 oz. Half and Half, 4 oz. Hershey’s chocolate syrup, 2 oz. Black Cherry Soda or Torani Cherry Syrup or Grenadine. Add ice and shake like a martini. (Ask bartender to dip glass rim in cocoa or chocolate syrup, and garnish with maraschino cherry, if you like.)
Unless it’s a dive or sports bar, most bartenders keep a variety of juices and alcohol-free mixers on hand, so don’t be shy about asking them to whip something up for you. Ditto for fancy pants mixologists, who often stock fresh herbs and spices like nutmeg, rosemary, mint, and cinnamon sticks. Merry mocktailing!
